MACSEM 2013 Call for Papers Posted! (Deadline for Proposals is Feb. 1, 2013)

The next annual meeting of MACSEM (The Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the Society for Ethnomusicology) will take place on March 23-24, 2013 at the University of Richmond, in Richmond, Virginia.

MACSEM 2013 CALL FOR PAPERS

The Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the Society for Ethnomusicology (http://ethnocenter.org/MACSEM) will hold its annual meeting March 23-24, 2013 at the University of Richmond, Richmond, VA. MACSEM welcomes proposals on all topics pertaining to ethnomusicology. We seek submissions from SEM members, as well as scholars working in related fields, including musicology, anthropology, media studies, folklore, performance studies, and cultural studies. MACSEM strongly encourages graduate and undergraduate students to apply. The MACSEM awards the Hewitt Pantaleoni Prize each year to the best student paper delivered at the annual meeting. Students are encouraged to submit their paper to the MACSEM president at the annual meeting to compete for the Prize.

Options for presentations include scholarly papers (20-minute presentation,10-minute discussion), organized panels of three or four papers, poster sessions, lecture-demonstrations, film/video screenings, and workshops.

Paper proposals should include an abstract of no more than 250 words; panel proposals should include a 250-word abstract for each paper plus a 200-word panel abstract. Please include with your proposal: the name(s) of presenter(s), institutional affiliation(s), title of presentation, format of presentation (paper, panel, poster, workshop, etc.), A/V equipment requirements, e-mail address, and phone number.

Abstracts should be sent by e-mail to: MACSEM 2013  program committee chair Fernando Rios, frios@umd.edu, with the subject line: "MACSEM 2013 Proposal Submission"

The program committee will notify participants of acceptances by February 24, 2013.
