Fabian Holt (b. 1972) is Associate Professor of Music and Performance at the University of Roskilde in Denmark. He studied at the University of Copenhagen (Ph.D. 2002) and has taught at the Universities of Copenhagen and Chicago. His teaching repertory includes courses on jazz and American popular musics, world music, concert culture, performance theory, and ethnomusicological theory. Recent publications include the monograph Genre in Popular Music (University of Chicago Press), “Kreuzberg Activists” in Popular Music and Society (2007), and “A View From Popular Music Studies” in The New (Ethno)musicologies (in press). As a recipient of the European Science Foundation's "Young Researchers Forum Award," he was a delegate at conference “Humanities in an Age of Interdisciplinarity" in Lisbon in 2007.
